Our Melbourne-based client is a leader in event and association management with 30+ years delivering conferences across science, academia and environmental industries.
They manage the financial operations of events and associations that support thousands of delegates and millions in transactions annually.
They are looking for a Finance Controller to lead their finance team with hands-on leadership, combining strategic vision with strong financial control.
About the Role
Finance Controller– take full ownership of the finance function, leading budgeting, forecasting, compliance, payroll, and reporting.
You'll work directly with the Directors, Project Managers, and your team to ensure financial clarity across 100+ active ledgers, from national conferences to international associations.
This is both a strategic and operational role, ideal for someone who thrives on detail but also wants to shape the future of the business.
What You'll Be Doing
Prepare and manage monthly P&L, balance sheets, and consolidated reports
Oversee project and association accounting, finalising budget vs actual reports
Lead budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and scenario planning
Ensure compliance with GST, FBT, payroll tax, and super obligations
Manage audits and liaise with external accountants
Oversee payroll, AR/AP, and employee financial records
Strengthen systems, controls, and financial processes
What You'll Bring
CA/CPA qualified, with 5+ years in senior finance roles
Strong background in management accounting, consolidation, and modelling
Expertise in Australian tax, payroll, and compliance requirements
Experience managing multi-entity ledgers and financial reporting
Ability to lead a team and communicate across departments
Hybrid role – 3 days in office / 2 days WFH
