About the role
We are seeking an experienced Change Manager to support the delivery of complex ICT and transformation initiatives within a Commonwealth environment.
This is a temporary (maximum-term) position to cover maternity leave. The engagement is expected to continue until the substantive role holder returns.
While this role is not ongoing and will conclude at the end of the backfill period, there may be opportunities to be considered for other roles within Next Apex, subject to business needs and individual performance.
The role requires you to:
* Provide strategic change and communications advice to senior executives (SES Band 1 level)
* Lead change management activities for organisational uplift initiatives, business improvements, and the implementation of a new operating model.
* Align branch-level initiatives with enterprise-wide ICT and transformation agendas
* Develop and deliver integrated communication and engagement strategies
* Support Project Managers with project level communications and stakeholder engagement where required.
* Design and deliver workshops, planning sessions, and cross-functional engagement activities
* Develop high quality strategic artefacts (e.g. placemats, executive briefs, reports)
* Strengthen stakeholder relationships and support senior leaders in driving strategic priorities
* Contribute to a cohesive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
About you:
We are looking for a proactive and professional change manager who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams. You will bring strong judgement, stakeholder engagement capability, and the ability to translate strategy into practical outcomes.
The following skills and experience are essential to succeed in this role:
* Experience working with Commonwealth/Federal Government clients.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Current AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance and Australian work rights.
The following skills and experience are highly desirable:
* A Bachelor’s degree, completed or in progress.
* Previous practical experience as a change manager.
* A relevant certification in change management (e.g. Prosci).
* High self-awareness and capacity to navigate sensitive organisational dynamics with empathy
* Strong interpersonal skills to influence, negotiate, and build trust at all levels
* Skilled in designing progressive, outcomes-driven sessions that move groups toward decisions
* Comfortable operating in ambiguity and adjusting approach as priorities evolve, builds a reputation as a trusted advisor and support for key stakeholder groups
