Hede Byrne & Hall Lawyers are an established broad practice law firm with offices in Toowoomba, Brisbane, Warwick, and Roma.
We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our litigation paralegal and admin team in our Toowoomba office.
This role would best suit an individual who can learn new tasks quickly and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Our team operates on electronic file systems, so it is essential that you have a good understanding of the Microsoft suite of apps, including Word, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
The structure of our team provides for one-on-one training, access to multiple experienced team members for immediate support and training in various different practice management systems.
The experience that you will obtain in this role will be invaluable for any future secretarial role or for furthering your legal career.
This role is available for an initial period of 12 months.
You may be offered further opportunities beyond this timeframe if they are available.
As our firm is broad practice, there is potential for opportunities to arise in different areas of law.
This role forms part of our graduate progression program, providing hands-on training, mentoring, and opportunities to grow your career within the firm.
Position Overview
This is a full-time role, however, we are willing to consider a part-time role for the right candidate(s).
You will be a part of our experienced litigation paralegal administration team, providing direct support to our senior lawyers and director in our litigation team.
Requirements of this role are diverse and require you to attend to a variety of paralegal and administrative tasks from the start to the end of the matter.
Tasks include:
Opening new files, including drafting and sending initial letters
Management of electronic file database and inbox management
Drafting correspondence & legal documents
Preparation of briefs to counsel and medical practitioners
Liaising with mediators, barristers and solicitors to arrange conferences, mediations and expert examinations
Assisting in the preparation of civil procedure documents
Preparing correspondence to clients, agents, banks, third parties and other solicitors
Liaising with clients and other parties
Answering incoming calls & attending to deliveries
Experience is not required – entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply, and full in-house training will be provided.
This role would provide a legal student with valuable experience in a legal practice.
Experienced administrative / legal secretaries are also encouraged to apply.
You should have excellent attention to detail, demonstrated organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, work cooperatively in a team environment, show an eagerness to learn and hold a valid Australian driver's licence.
