In this role, you'll:
Work as part of a well-regarded team delivering safe, efficient, and reliable rail network operations across the Country Regional Network (CRN), you will ensure the integrity and performance of critical network control systems.
You will provide expert technical support and guidance for the development, implementation, and maintenance of network management systems.
You’ll lead configuration management, authentication, and logging services to ensure compliance with operational, regulatory, and safety requirements.
You will collaborate with internal teams and external providers to enhance system reliability, optimise performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
You will pioneer secure and resilient network solutions in a complex, evolving environment where operational stability and innovation go hand in hand.
This permanent role will be based in the Newcastle office (with a hybrid working arrangement allowing some work from home) and will also spend time in the network control centres and require occasional intrastate travel.

About you
Your strong technical expertise in rail network engineering, combined with experience in configuration, troubleshooting, and optimisation, will see you excel in managing complex control networks.
You will be recognised as a trusted technical leader, skilled at diagnosing and resolving issues, and experienced in vendor engagement and network infrastructure projects. Your ability to balance operational stability with continuous improvement will help deliver high-performance outcomes for the CRN.
Extensive experience in network engineering and management within rail.
Strong knowledge of network security, change management, and incident resolution
Ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate across multiple stakeholders
Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) and a valid Australian driver’s licence
