PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Location: Melbourne / Sydney – Remote Options Available
Duration: 12-Month Contract

The Role We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to provide business-as-usual (BAU) support, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance of PostgreSQL environments with a strong focus on Crunchy PostgreSQL. You'll play a key role in ensuring high availability, security, and performance of databases, while collaborating with engineering teams to support feature delivery and drive automation initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
Deliver day-to-day PostgreSQL support across
multi-cloud environments
(AWS, Azure, GCP).
Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
Implement and maintain
high availability
,
clustering
, and
replication
solutions using
Patroni
.
Perform
reliable backup and recovery operations
using
pgBackRest
.
Diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
Ensure
disaster recovery
readiness and adherence to
security and compliance
standards.
Work closely with automation engineers to support
Ansible-based deployment and configuration workflows
.
What You'll Bring
Extensive hands-on experience in
PostgreSQL administration
, performance tuning, and issue resolution.
Proven expertise with
Crunchy PostgreSQL
and
Patroni
clustering.
Proficient in
pgBackRest
for backup and recovery.
Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, replication strategies, and HA configurations.
Strong Linux/Unix system administration background, including advanced
Bash scripting
.
Experience operating in
multi-cloud environments
(AWS, Azure, GCP).
Proficiency in monitoring and alerting for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
Exposure to
First-of-a-Kind (FOAK)
solutions is a plus.
