About the role
Rydges Palmerston Hotel is currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Casual Chef to join our kitchen team at Madame Za Restaurant.
We are specifically looking for a chef with experience cooking steaks and/or wok dishes, with candidates experienced in both highly regarded.
Working alongside a well-known International Executive Chef, this role offers the opportunity to gain experience across multiple kitchen sections, including Modern Asian cuisine, à la carte service, functions, and bulk preparation.

• 60-seat restaurant with conference and large function facilities
• Outside pool area with facilities for poolside bar and catering service
• Breakfast buffet, lunch and evening à la carte service
• Functions, events, food preparation, and catering services
Key responsibilities
• Preparing and cooking high-quality steak and/or wok dishes
• Assisting with food preparation and service across all kitchen sections
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and kitchen presentation
• Supporting menu development and dish presentation
• Working effectively within a fast-paced team environment
• Assisting with functions, events, and catering operations

Skills & experience
• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Previous experience cooking steaks and/or wok dishes
• Experience in à la carte service preferred
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (desirable)
• Flexible availability including nights and weekends
