Position Overview
TKS Gardening is a family-owned business seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Gardening Supervisor (Head Gardener) to support the effective delivery of horticultural and landscaping services. This is a senior, hands-on supervisory role responsible for assisting in the daily management of staff, equipment, and works programs.
Reporting directly to the Manager, the successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring all projects and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Team Supervision and Leadership:
Supervise, coordinate, and support teams of gardeners and labourers, including work allocation, daily scheduling, on-the-job training, and ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Horticultural Management:
Provide technical horticultural expertise including plant selection, propagation, seasonal planting programs, and the identification and treatment of pests and diseases.
Operational Oversight:
Assist in managing daily maintenance operations such as lawn care, pruning, irrigation, and general grounds maintenance. Ensure plant, equipment, and machinery are maintained to operational standards, including management of consumables and spare parts.
Project and Landscape Delivery:
Assist in the implementation of landscape designs and development plans, working collaboratively with the Manager to support long-term site and client objectives.
Administrative Support:
Assist with ordering materials and supplies, maintaining job records, and supporting documentation relating to maintenance schedules and site histories.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as a professional point of contact for clients, providing progress updates, technical advice, and recommendations while representing TKS Gardening in a professional manner.

Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated, high-level experience in gardening, horticulture, and landscaping
* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on company equipment
* Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage staff and engage professionally with clients
* Sound understanding of irrigation systems and water-efficient practices
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Physically capable of undertaking manual work and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Positive, proactive approach with a strong work ethic

Qualifications and Licences
* Current full Driver's Licence (mandatory)
Desirable (but not essential):
* Certificate III or higher in Horticulture
* White Card (Construction Induction)
* Working With Children Check
* Police Check
* Working at Heights certification
* Safe Use of Pesticides (AQF Level 3 or equivalent)
* Experience operating specialised machinery (including chainsaws, ride-on mowers, mini loaders, and excavators)
