About Our Client
Our client is a well‑established organisation within the retail industry, recognised for its commitment to operational excellence.
Job Description
* Lead end‑to‑end logistics operations across a national network of 12 warehouses, ensuring consistent standards, safety, DIFOT and operational excellence.
* Own the full logistics cost base (warehousing, labour, transport, 3PL) and deliver clear, measurable EBIT improvements through disciplined operational management.
* Drive freight and 3PL consolidation, centralising fragmented transport arrangements and negotiating national agreements to improve service and reduce cost.
* Build and embed a consistent operating rhythm across all sites, creating visibility through simplified dashboards, KPIs and performance cadences for warehouse leaders.
* Lead cultural uplift across the network by setting clear expectations, developing site leaders, and creating a disciplined, engaged, accountable operating environment.
* Partner with SLT to shape and execute network strategy, including footprint optimisation, warehouse subletting opportunities, and future capacity planning.
* Stand up and champion a Continuous Improvement (CI) function, delivering sustainable gains in productivity, accuracy, safety and customer service.
* Conduct rapid network diagnostics, identifying critical issues early and implementing practical, high‑impact solutions that improve service levels and operational flow.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Head of Logistics should have:
* Proven experience running large multi‑site warehouse and transport operations in fast‑moving, complex environments.
* Strong commercial operator with full cost‑base ownership and a track record of delivering measurable cost, efficiency and service improvements.
* Expert in transport, freight and 3PL optimisation, including national tendering, consolidation and carrier performance management.
* Confident, calm and execution‑focused leader who builds trust quickly and can lift culture, standards and accountability across diverse teams.
* Highly analytical with the ability to translate data and dashboards into clear, actionable direction for warehouse and transport leaders.
* Experienced in embedding operating rhythms, SOPs, KPIs and continuous improvement across distributed networks.
* Adept at rapid problem‑solving with a hands‑on approach and the capability to diagnose network issues quickly and implement practical solutions that stick.
* Collaborative, respectful challenger who works effectively with senior leadership, influencing network strategy while empowering frontline teams to execute.
