This is an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander identified position which is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

For over 50 years, the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) has stood as a powerful act of self-determination, born from the Aboriginal rights protest movement. Today, we continue that legacy by delivering high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across NSW and the ACT. Driven by justice, grounded in culture, and committed to equity, we are proud to stand with our communities and fight for lasting change.

Your Impact:

As a vital member of the high-performing Aboriginal Child and Family Advocacy and Support (ACFAS) Program, you will deliver essential administrative support that enables the seamless daily operation of the program. Your contributions will help ensure the provision of culturally safe, high-quality legal and support services, making a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal families engaged in the child protection system. Each day you will expect to:

* Establish and maintain efficient administrative systems to support smooth program operations.
* Serve as the first point of contact, facilitating clear and respectful communication between clients, staff, and external stakeholders.
* Provide professional secretarial and word processing support to the Program Manager and legal team.
* Coordinate and schedule in-person and virtual meetings, including community and group sessions.
* Maintain accurate records, manage data entry, and handle general administrative duties with strict confidentiality.
* Uphold ALS policies and exemplify commitment to ALS values, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Work Health and Safety standards.

Who Are We Looking For?

We seek a highly skilled and motivated individual who possesses a deep understanding of the cultural, social, and historical contexts of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The ideal candidate will:

* Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be recognised within their community.

* Bring proven administrative experience, with excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
* Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office and intermediate computer skills.
* Communicate effectively with respect and professionalism, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
* Thrive working independently and adapt seamlessly to change in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
* Desirable: Previous experience within Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community organisations or legal settings.

Why Join Us?

At ALS, you'll find a meaningful career where your work directly contributes to positive change within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We value and support our team with a range of generous benefits designed to enhance your wellbeing and professional growth, including:

* Access to not-for-profit salary packaging, helping you reduce your tax burden and keep more of your hard-earned income.
* A 17.5% annual leave loading, ensuring you're rewarded for your time off and can enjoy a well-deserved rest.
* Ongoing career and professional development opportunities to help you grow and thrive.
