The ELC Vacation Care Supervisor functionally reports to the Head of
Preparatory School via the ELC Director who provides day-to-day
direction. The ELC Vacation Care Supervisor coordinates and works
**Key Relationships**closely with staff engaged in the ELC Vacation Care Program. The ELC
Vacation Care Supervisor works with the OSHC Director and Venue and
Events Manager. Ultimately the ELC Vacation Care Supervisor is
responsible to the Principal via the Director of Business Operations.
**_Position Objective _**
The role of the ELC Vacation Care Supervisor is to take responsibility for the efficient operation of all aspects
of the ELC Vacation Care Program. The ELC Vacation Care Supervisor is expected to take a leading role in
further development of the program and is responsible for the supervision of groups of children in a safe,
stimulating environment. The building of positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues is an
expectation.
**_Key Responsibilities_**_: _
**1. Program**:
- Act as the person in day-today charge of the ELC during the vacation program.
- Create a safe, harmonious and stimulating environment for staff and students.
- Develop, implement and evaluate daily routines in consultation with other staff.
- Develop, implement and evaluate a quality program based on individual and group needs of children
under supervision.
- Work with individual children and groups according to their needs.
- Organise rosters for staff.
- Ensuring staff numbers are adequate and meet ratios for numbers of students attending sessions.
- Liaise with parents in a positive, professional and supportive manner.
- Take responsibility in emergencies.
- Report any emergency or hazard immediately it is safe to do so.
- Promotion and marketing of the service.
- Monitor National Quality Framework standards to ensure compliance.
- Assist with the development of appropriate policies / procedures.
- Other duties as required.
**2. Administration**:
- Provide objective written and oral observations of children, as required, while maintaining
confidentiality.
- Assist with administrative duties as required by the ELC Director.
- Ensure that accurate and complete records of each child's attendance, illness, accident reports, observations
and any others required are kept and maintained.
- Ensure confidentiality of these records at all times.
- Maintain equipment and materials.
**_Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience_**_ _
- A Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent.
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in working with children aged 3 years to 5 years.
- Current accreditation in Responding to Abuse and Neglect training.
- Sound ICT skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to design and implement an appropriate programme
- Ability to implement the schools behaviour management procedures
- Experience or training in teaching, administration or management would be highly regarded
