Position Summary: Dedicated social worker to deliver high‐quality, person‐centred clinical interventions and psychosocial support within Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol inpatient services.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‐quality, person‐centred clinical interventions and psychosocial support to individuals receiving care across MHDA inpatient services, including MHPARC and the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to support consumers through all stages of recovery and rehabilitation by addressing psychosocial needs, facilitating access to community supports, enhancing coping strategies, and promoting functional recovery.
- Conduct comprehensive assessment, therapeutic engagement, care coordination, discharge planning, and advocacy, with a strong focus on recovery‐oriented, trauma‐informed, and culturally responsive practice.
- For Level 2 social workers: operate under general professional supervision, developing expertise in complex clinical practice.
- For Level 3 social workers: work more autonomously, provide advanced clinical interventions, demonstrate leadership within the team, and may supervise or support less experienced staff or students.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria
- Bachelor of Social Work or eligibility for registration with AHPRA or eligibility for full membership of Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) with previous experience meeting criteria for level 2 or 3 under the NSW Health Service Professional (State) award and minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a social worker.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in social work and mental health, drug and alcohol service provision, including advanced clinical reasoning and ability to apply professional judgement on complex or critical tasks autonomously.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in work health and safety, clinical governance, and quality improvement with proven ability to lead change to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers and their families to enhance health outcomes.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills together with willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues and students.
- Demonstrated leadership in effective communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues or concerns when communicating with others.
- Current license to drive in NSW.
