Leading Hand Electrician (Commercial Projects) | Brisbane
A well-established commercial electrical contractor is seeking a trade-qualified Leading Hand Electrician to lead from the front on high-end projects across Brisbane.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can bridge the gap between on-site sparkies and the office, keep jobs moving smoothly, and lift consistency in safety, quality, and delivery.
About the Company You'll join a reputable contractor delivering high-end interior fit-outs, construction projects, and multi-level refurbishments for government and private-sector builders (schools, childcare centres, commercial refurbishments, and similar environments). The business is in strong growth mode, investing in structure, leadership, and long-term career pathways.
The Role As Leading Hand Electrician, you'll coordinate a team of electricians and apprentices on-site while remaining hands-on with the tools. Key focus areas:
* Commercial electrical projects (fit-outs, refurbishments, construction)
* Programmable lighting control systems (Dynalite, C-Bus, KNX, Zen Control)
* Installations, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
* Leading daily workflows, managing resources, and driving productivity
* Safety leadership – WHS, QA, tidy sites, compliance-first delivery
What You'll Be Doing (Day to Day)
* Lead and coordinate crews of electricians and apprentices on-site
* Interpret drawings, plans, specs, and scope to deliver work "to spec"
* Keep work progressing on time and on budget
* Act as the go-to point of contact for project managers, site teams, clients, and subcontractors
* Identify issues early, troubleshoot, and implement practical solutions
* Manage tools, materials, and site resources to minimise downtime and waste
* Mentor apprentices and raise the standard of workmanship on-site
What We're Looking For You'll ideally bring:
* Trade-qualified Electrician with 4+ years post-trade experience
* Current Queensland Electrical Workers Licence
* Strong background running commercial electrical projects (refurbs / fit-outs / construction)
* Confident leadership style – calm, organised, and solutions-focused
* Strong communication and customer service skills (clients, builders, PMs, subcontractors)
* Pride in quality, safety, and professional site standards
Essential Tickets / Licences
* QLD Electrical Workers Licence
* CPR/LVR
* Construction White Card
* QLD Open C Class Driver Licence
* Experience with lighting control systems (Dynalite / C-Bus / KNX / Zen Control or similar)
