The Opportunity
As the State Transport Manager, you'll lead the integration and performance uplift of DHL's QLD transport operations, overseeing both pallet and carton networks across multiple sites and agent hubs. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction while embedding DHL's culture and values.
In this role you will
Lead and unify state-wide transport operations into a single high-performing team.
Oversee a multi-shift road transport fleet (carton, pallet, and line haul).
Drive performance across key KPIs : DIFOT, cost per kilometre, asset utilisation, and safety compliance.
Build strong relationships with major customers and internal stakeholders.
Champion continuous improvement, digital automation, and cultural transformation.
Manage and develop a medium-to-large team including Ops Managers, drivers, allocators, and support staff.
You have the following qualities & qualifications
Minimum 5–7 years' experience in multi-site transport operations, ideally in a high-volume, customer-centric environment.
Proven success in leading cultural change and improving operational performance.
Strong understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVAS, and Dangerous Goods compliance.
Commercial acumen with experience in P&L management and cost optimisation.
Proficiency in TMS (Oracle-based), digital reporting tools, and automation technologies.
Safety-first mindset with a track record of driving compliance and engagement.
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach, challenge, and inspire teams.
Experience managing both company fleet and subcontractor networks.
Strong stakeholder management skills across Fleet, Finance, HR, SHEQ, and Customer Operations.
