Osborne Richardson is delighted to be assisting Macedon Ranges Shire Council with the recruitment of a Local Laws Officer. We are seeking a proactive and community-focused professional who can bring strong communication skills, sound judgement and a positive approach to the Local Laws team. This will be an ongoing contract based within one of Victoria’s most picturesque regional municipalities. An average day will look like: Investigating complaints relating to local laws, parking, nuisance issues, littering and waste dumping. Conducting inspections and investigations in line with relevant legislation and Council procedures. Issuing warnings, infringements and legal directions where required. Preparing documentation and evidence for legal proceedings and attending court when necessary. Responding to reports of stray, injured and wandering animals across the municipality. Undertaking animal impoundment and pound facility duties. Educating and engaging with community members to encourage voluntary compliance. Maintaining accurate records, file notes and compliance documentation within Council systems. Participating in after-hours emergency and animal response rosters as required. What we're looking for: Experience in local laws, compliance, animal management or a regulatory environment. Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills. An enthusiastic, proactive and community-minded approach. Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to interpret legislation and prepare reports and correspondence. Confidence working autonomously and managing competing priorities. Demonstrated experience safely handling animals would be highly regarded.
