We're looking for a motivated and hands-on First Nations Employment and Community Engagement Mentor to provide intensive and culturally responsive mentoring to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander within the Transition to Work (TTW) Program. Delivering active pre- and post-employment assistance to promote sustainable employment and education outcomes.

This role requires a high level of cultural competence, resilience, and the ability to work effectively with young people experiencing complex barriers including trauma, disengagement from education and community, and AOD issues.

About the Role

As a First Nations Employment and Community Engagement Mentor, your responsibilities include:

* Mentor and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, providing culturally safe, strengths-based guidance.
* Deliver intensive pre- and post-employment support to help participants achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, employers, and community stakeholders.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams and service providers to deliver coordinated, wrap-around support.
* Deliver culturally appropriate one-on-one mentoring, job readiness workshops, and group activities.
* Support participants with career planning, job applications, and interview preparation.
* Engage employers through reverse marketing to create employment opportunities, interviews, and secure paid placements.
* Deliver cohort-specific, non-accredited training programs developed by Workskil Australia to groups of customers across the region, including participants from other employment programs.
* Assist with transport and attendance at employment, training, and support-related activities as required.
* Support employer engagement and industry activities by promoting Workskil Australia services, assisting employer engagement teams, and participating in events and regional planning initiatives.
* Provide coordinated participant support by facilitating referrals, delivering intensive post‐placement assistance, and maintaining strong partnerships with community, employer, and Native Title organisations to promote culturally safe opportunities.
* Ensure service quality and outcomes through accurate documentation, contribution to placement targets, compliance with organisational policies, and continuous improvement practices.

About You

We're seeking someone who is:

* Experience in working sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, while respecting traditional cultures and values;
* A strong passion and drive for helping people find sustainable and meaningful employment;
* Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers and staff;
* High level of interpersonal skills with an ability to represent Workskil Australia to our customers, funding bodies, employers, RTOs, Indigenous Communities and other stakeholders;
* An understanding of case management framework;
* Sales and customer service experience desired;
* Proven ability to work in an outcome based, high pressure environment with positivity and enthusiasm;
* Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, excel and PowerPoint) and ability to type at 30 words per minute
* Certificate IV in Community Services or Career Development or willingness to obtain through Workskil Support
* Hold a current driver's licence and have own vehicle with a willingness to travel across the region
