Maintenance Manager – Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains
Join our leadership team as Maintenance Manager supporting the Chief Engineer and taking a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations at our vibrant resort. We're seeking an experienced professional with strong technical expertise, preventative maintenance experience and a proactive approach to safety, compliance and guest comfort.
Set in the World Heritage Blue Mountains with views of the Jameson's valley, the Fairmont Resort and Spa boast's 224 rooms, 6 Food and Beverage Outlets, a large Conferencing and Events department, 18-hole golf course, multiple family and wellness facilities and a 16 room Day Spa as well as ongoing developments.
About the Role
As Maintenance Manager, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the smooth operation, safety and presentation of the hotel. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for preventative maintenance, compliance checks, contractor coordination, emergency response, and continuous improvement initiatives across the property.
In this role, you will:
* Plan, implement and carry out preventative maintenance programs across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities to ensure comfort, safety, and brand standards are maintained.
* Prioritise and respond to maintenance requests from all departments to support smooth daily operations.
* Coordinate routine statutory testing including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and safety systems in line with Council, Fire Service, and legislative requirements.
* Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across the property.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team to ensure high performance and engagement.
* Liaise closely with Front Office and Housekeeping regarding down rooms to ensure quick turnaround and minimal impact on inventory.
* Ensure external grounds and hotel surrounds are well presented and maintained in line with company brand standards.
* Liaise with external contractors to coordinate maintenance work around the property while ensuring quality and safety standards.
* Ensure all team members are trained and competent in the safe use of equipment and chemicals in accordance with WHS and manufacturer instructions.
* Be available for emergency maintenance call-outs outside normal hours, including power failures, fire system resets, and major mechanical breakdowns.
* Flexibility to work a varied roster including weekends or public holidays as required.
What You'll Bring
* Hotel or Resort Maintenance experience: Previous experience in a hotel or resort environment.
* Resort operations experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience managing large-scale facilities, resort infrastructure, pools, and plant equipment.
* Trade qualification: Demonstrated hands-on skills across building services, plant, and general maintenance.
* Leadership and team management: Strong people skills with the ability to inspire, train, and support a multi-skilled team in a fast-paced environment.
* Compliance and safety focus: In-depth understanding of WHS, fire safety, building codes, and preventative maintenance frameworks.
* Results-driven mindset: Proactive, solutions-focused approach with attention to detail and quality.
