It supports clinical decision making and various clinical functions, including data integration from biomedical devices, clinical notes, medications, infusions, laboratory and microbiology reports, and research and quality improvement.
A project is expanding WARIC to Sir Charles Gairdner and Perth Children's Hospitals, with potential for future sites.
The expansion is supported by the Health Technology Management Unit.
The first stage is expected to be completed in December 2026.Position ProfileThe Senior Biomedical Engineer – Clinical Engineering leads and supports the technical and clinical aspects of the ICU EMR across multiple sites.
Responsibilities include system configuration, software changes, risk assessment, change management, upgrades, testing, training, and collaboration with biomedical engineering and ICT teams to maintain secure medical equipment networks.
The role provides high-level consultancy and technical support to clinical and biomedical engineering teams.
It also covers lifecycle management of biomedical systems, preparation of business cases and tender documentation, and participation in EMR-related projects.

Essential and Desirable Selection CriteriaTertiary qualification in engineering and eligible for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
Contemporary knowledge of the theory, design and practical application of digital electronics, clinical data management, computer systems and networking.
Expert professional knowledge and skills related to the range of specialised biomedical equipment and systems, its design, operation and application.
Demonstrated significant experience with integrated biomedical systems and applications, particularly the ICU EMR, and in delivering integrated enterprise applications in a large and complex service environment.For a full list of essential and desirable criteria, refer to the JDF.Other ConditionsWA Health requires criminal records screening and integrity checks.
