Job Summary
Wormald is excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Project Manager Minor Works to join our growing Riverina team, based out of our Albury branch.
This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role, ideally suited to a senior Fire Protection or Electrical technician who wants to step into project management while remaining actively involved on-site and on the tools.
The role is approximately 50% field-based and 50% office-based, combining hands-on technical delivery with project management, customer engagement, team leadership and commercial responsibility.
You will be a working leader - equally comfortable delivering quality outcomes in the field, supporting technicians on-site, and managing projects, people, performance and customer relationships.
This role is ideally suited to a senior fire or electrical technician ready to step into a leadership position, or an experienced Project Manager who has come from a hands-on technical background within the industry.
About the Company
At Wormald, we have been at the forefront of fire protection since 1889. As a leading provider of fire protection solutions, we proudly uphold a long-standing reputation for excellence and a well-established brand. Our expertise lies in the design, installation, and servicing of fire protection systems, with a strong focus on service and maintenance across diverse sites. Join us and be part of a trusted industry leader dedicated to protecting life and property.
Our Riverina branch continues to grow, particularly within Minor Works, and we are looking for the right leader to help drive that next phase.
About the Role
As Project Manager Minor Works, you will play a key leadership role across the Riverina region, balancing hands-on technical involvement with effective project and commercial management.
You will regularly work on-site and on the tools, providing practical leadership, technical guidance and support to field technicians, while also managing project planning, scheduling, reporting and financial performance.
This role requires someone who can confidently move between the field and the office, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will build strong client relationships, oversee minor works contracts and help drive sustainable growth within the branch.
Safety, quality and customer satisfaction will underpin everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
Leading minor works projects from site to completion, maintaining a strong on-site presence to ensure quality, safety and timely delivery.
Working alongside technicians in the field, providing practical support, technical guidance and leadership when required.
Supervising, mentoring and supporting field technicians, resolving on-site challenges and driving high standards of workmanship and performance.
Programming and coordinating works across the region, balancing labour, materials and timeframes to meet customer and commercial expectations.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as the key point of contact throughout project delivery.
Ensuring all works comply with contractual, WHS and company standards, including regular site inspections, audits and field leadership activities.
Managing project financial performance, including cost-to-complete analysis, progress reporting and budget control.
Identifying and resolving issues proactively, implementing practical solutions to improve efficiency, safety and customer outcomes.
Supporting growth activities, including assisting with tenders, minor system design, variations and contract preparation as required.
Completing scheduling and associated administration, ensuring accurate reporting and smooth project execution.
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Trade-qualified experience in Fire Protection or Electrical, with a strong technical background and current industry knowledge.
Demonstrated experience working on the tools, with the ability and willingness to remain hands-on as part of a leadership role.
Proven capability to lead, mentor and support technicians, providing practical guidance and resolving field-based challenges.
Experience coordinating works, scheduling resources and managing competing priorities across multiple jobs or contracts.
Strong understanding of fire protection systems, electrical installations or related infrastructure, including the ability to interpret drawings and system designs.
Sound commercial awareness, with experience in cost control, progress reporting and managing project financial performance.
Strong commitment to Workplace Health & Safety, compliance and safe work practices in the field and office.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, suitable for both site-based leadership and office-based reporting.
A practical, solutions-focused mindset, comfortable balancing hands-on delivery with planning, administration and growth activities.
What is on Offer for You
Competitive remuneration package — salary or wages negotiable based on experience and suitability.
TOT motor vehicle, mobile phone, uniform and superannuation.
A supportive and dynamic team environment with genuine opportunities for career growth and development within a leading fire protection company.
