* We're looking for an experienced professional who can provide timely, accurate and high-level executive and administrative support services
* Temporary, Clerk Grade 9/10 ($129,464 - $142,66 opportunity based at Government House, Sydney up to 30 April 2027 for maternity leave coverage

About the Role

The Manager Secretariat provides direct executive support to the Official Secretary and leads the Secretariat team to deliver timely, accurate and high-quality executive support, advisory and correspondence services for Government House Sydney. You will provide diary management, coordinate meetings and travel arrangements in a complex, fast-paced setting. As the Manager Secretariat you will lead the correspondence function for the Official Secretary and draft authoritative communications and provide support to the Executive Council meetings. You will anticipate priorities, navigate sensitive issues and keep stakeholders aligned. If you thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑profile environment, you'll drive process improvements, integrate new technologies and uplift team capability to deliver consistently exceptional outcomes.

Government House Sydney

Government House Sydney, the residence and the seat of administration of the Governor of New South Wales – the oldest statutory office in Australia - is staffed by employees of the NSW Premier's Department. The team at Government House Sydney supports the Governor in the conduct of constitutional, ceremonial and community duties.

Collectively, the five functional areas (Protocol, Household, Estate Management, Communications and Secretariat) ensure that every aspect of the Governor's and spouse's programs of official engagements and interactions with the community are appropriately coordinated, managed and planned; that the official residence is suitably maintained; that the administrative arm of the organisation operates in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines; and that the heritage buildings, contents and grounds are managed and presented to the highest standard.

We're Looking For

* Executive Support & Process Improvement: Demonstrated experience providing high-level executive and administrative support in a high-pressure environment, with a track record of driving process improvements and integrating new technologies for greater efficiency. You will be sufficient in Microsoft Suite.
* Relationship Management: Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with senior leaders, team members, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and high-quality service delivery.
* Communication: Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including drafting official correspondence, with the ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences.
* Legislative, Government & Political Acumen: You will have an understanding of the role of the Governor and service provided by Government House Sydney. You will have knowledge of legislative and government processes.
* People Leadership: Experience leading and developing teams, supporting capability building, and fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
