0.5FTE - Youth Health Worker - New Norfolk - (Monday, Thursday and half-day Friday) Contract until August 26
About the role
As a part-time Youth Health Worker at The Link Youth Health Service in Hobart or the Derwent Valley, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of young people in the local community. This position involves working closely with a team of dedicated professionals to provide holistic, client-centred care and services. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for youth development and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
What you'll be doing
Delivering high-quality health and support services to young people, including brief interventions, providing information, and referrals to other community service organisations
Delivering health promotions and group activities on topics such as mental health, sexual health, nutrition and substance abuse prevention
Advocating for the needs of young people and collaborating with other youth-serving organisations to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery
Maintaining accurate client records and data to support the evaluation and improvement of programs
Participating in team meetings, professional development opportunities, administration and other organisational activities as required
What we're looking for
Minimum of Diploma level qualifications in community services, youth work, social work, or a related field
At least 2 years of experience working directly with young people in a health, social services, or community development setting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse young people and their families
Knowledge of youth health and wellbeing issues, as well as relevant legislation and best practices in the field
Demonstrated commitment to the principles of youth-centred practice, including empowerment, participation, and social inclusion
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organisational and time management skills
Current Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application
Valid Working with Children Check and Police Check are required before commencement
