Overview
We are a global leader in the manufacture of Intermediate Bulk Containers and plastic drums for the liquid packaging industry, serving sectors such as industrial and agricultural chemicals, oils and lubricants, and food. Our Australian head office and main manufacturing facility are based in Laverton North, supported by additional production sites in Brisbane and Perth. We are seeking a proactive and motivated SHEQ professional to take ownership of our Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental systems and play a key role in driving compliance and continuous improvement across the business.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the implementation of SHEQ strategies, systems and initiatives across the 3 sites and report progress to the management team.
* Develop and implement SHEQ education, as well as compliance and improvement programs for employees, clients, contractors and visitors.
* Maintain ISO, BAM & FSSC certification requirements including coordination of site internal and external audits.
* Ensure compliance to WorkSafe regulations, including the coordination of the Health & Safety Committee.
* Ensure site compliance to Local Govt, West Water and EPA and other government regulations.
* Monitor and audit the company's compliance with the company's SHEQ policies and procedures and formally advise managers on areas of non‐compliance.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and best practices to facilitate full compliance to all applicable codes and standards.
* Liaise with external bodies and specialist groups and ensure compliance to quality, health, safety and environmental requirements.
* Ensure compliance to Chain of Responsibility requirements relevant to work health and safety of staff and visitors.
* Manage the filling goods classification to ensure waste materials are processed safely.
* Liaise closely with SHEQ personnel and shop floor employees on significant risks that affect the business.
Qualifications
* Chemical qualifications and experience in chemical classifications.
* Minimum 4 years' experience in overseeing and promoting SHEQ requirements within a manufacturing/chemical environment or similar high‐risk sector.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in Management & Leadership.
* Demonstrated negotiation, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication as well as presentation and training skills.
* Highly developed strategic thinking, analytical and problem‐solving skills.
* Strong risk‐based system approach.
* Demonstrated experience in conducting and participating in audits.
* Full understanding of the HSE legislative frameworks across all jurisdictions and ability to communicate legislative obligations in simple terms.
* Suitable knowledge of OH&S codes and applicable Australian Standards.
* Formal qualifications in Health, Safety and Environment discipline or similar; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
* Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering would be highly regarded.
* Formal Training and Assessment qualifications will be highly regarded.
* Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems is desirable.
