About the Role
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the planning, design management and delivery of capital works projects from inception to completion. Initially responsible for managing less complex projects autonomously, the role increases in scope and complexity as capability develops. APM support includes managing schedules, budgets, documentation, procurement activities and preparing and circulating meeting minutes and actions, to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The role also supports the University signage program and acts as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
Responsibilities
* Support planning, design management and delivery of selected capital works projects from inception to completion.
* Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, tender documentation and procurement activities.
* Monitor project progress and provide accurate reporting on timelines, risks, issues and costs.
* Manage project documentation and all project related meetings.
* Coordinate consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project requirements.
* Manage changes to scope, schedule and budget in consultation with the Project Manager.
* Ensure compliance with WHS obligations, building standards and regulatory requirements.
* Manage project close out activities.
* Manage the University signage program.
About You Skills, attributes, knowledge
* Project and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and track multiple tasks.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, supporting effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
* Technical knowledge of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations and contract management.
* Organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing documentation and records.
* Proactive, adaptable and solution focused approach to managing change and resolving issues.
* High level of professionalism, integrity and accountability.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic project environment.
Experience
* Demonstrated experience supporting the planning and delivery of construction projects, new builds and/or interior fit outs.
* Experience coordinating internal and external stakeholders, including consultants and contractors.
* Proven ability to manage project documentation, budgets and schedules.
* Experience resolving project issues and managing change in a project delivery environment.
* Client side experience desirable, or experience in a project management consultancy environment.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years project management experience in new builds, refurbishments or interior fit.
* Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) desirable.
* NSW White Card, or preparedness to obtain prior to employment offer.
What We Offer
Base Salary Range: $107,402 - $118,813 (HEW7) plus 17% superannuation (pension)
The position is full time and will be made on a continuing basis.
