Adecco is recruiting on behalf of a global leader in materials testing solutions, for a Field Service Technician to support clients on the east coast of Australia and New Zealand. This permanent opportunity offers hands-on technical work with advanced testing systems, supporting clients primarily across academia.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and repair of materials testing equipment at client sites. Your duties will include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and software-related faults, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring systems operate reliably and to specification.
You will work closely with customers to explain service activities, provide technical guidance, and minimise equipment downtime. Accurate documentation, service reporting, and compliance with safety and quality procedures are critical components of this role.
The position requires effective time management, the ability to work autonomously in the field, and close coordination with internal service, engineering, and sales teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will also be required to pass leads for potential sales to the sales team.
This position has a high amount of interstate travel to service and assist clients, and you will be also be required to ocasionally travel oversease for additional training.
Your Profile
To be successful in this role, you will have prior experience as a Field Service Technician or Service Engineer within industrial, engineering, laboratory, or manufacturing environments. A background in electromechanical systems, automation, instrumentation, or industrial equipment will be highly regarded, as will tertiary or trade qualifications in related fields.
You will demonstrate strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, the ability to read technical documentation, and a methodical approach to diagnostics and repairs. Excellent communication skills are essential, as this is a customer-facing role requiring professionalism and clear technical explanations.
A current driver's licence is required and our client may also require a police check. Training on our clients systems will be provided overseas, however a strong technical foundation and willingness to learn are essential.
