The MRQ mission is to provide a state-wide boating safety network, able to respond to blue water situations, educate the boating public, and contribute to their skills to support emergency service agencies during disasters, emergencies, and routine tasks.As a member of the MRQ Training Team, you will coordinate and oversee the development and evaluation of training functions.
Assisting with planning, implementation, and delivery, you will work collaboratively across the Northern region, including the Gulf of Carpentaria and Mornington Island (role based in Townsville), with State and MRQ member stakeholders to ensure the delivery of standardised, accredited, and non-accredited, competency-based training.You will provide strategic advice for capability-focused projects and monitor interdependencies across multiple initiatives to ensure successful training delivery.
The Regional Training Coordinator supports the operational capability of a new integrated marine rescue service.Your Key AccountabilitiesThe core capability requirements for this role are:Provide leadership and direction to plan, coordinate, and facilitate training programs to improve professionalism, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of staff, in accordance with relevant service and national standards.Manage coordination of education and training, including travel for members, facilities, purchasing, and maintenance of training equipment and assets.Identify, develop, and implement strategies and provide advice on the efficient coordination of training needs and activities.Coordinate and manage projects involving volunteers to develop professional and effective education products and ensure project completion within negotiated timeframes.Identify and monitor trends, best practices, and emerging issues related to education and training.Provide expertise for consultation and advisory services to senior managers regarding best practices and innovative approaches to education and training evaluation.Establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external clients, stakeholders, and service providers to improve service delivery outcomes.Manage and coordinate, in liaison with the Manager and senior staff, the preparation of budgets and finances, including expenditure monitoring and providing timely advice to management.Role RequirementsMandatoryOpen 'C' Class Queensland Drivers LicenceQualificationsCert II Coxswain NC (Grade 1) or higherTAE40122 Cert IV in Training and Assessment or equivalentCurrent First Aid CertificateShort or Long range operator certificate of proficiency (SROCP or LROCP) or equivalentTechnical/Operational/Educational ExperienceExperience in Maritime Search and Rescue Organisations (national/international), or willingness to acquire formal search and rescue qualifications within six months of commencementKnowledge and/or qualifications in project managementOtherKnowledge and/or qualifications in Disaster ManagementAbility to travel intra-state as requiredExperience working with regional and remote communities, especially First Nations communities, with sensitivity to cultural considerationsApplications remain current for 12 months.
