Field Service Technician Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for providing prompt and efficient attention to customer needs, diagnosing and repairing engine and related components in the field, and maintaining service vehicles and tools.
Main Responsibilities:
* You will engage customers in a courteous and professional manner, anticipating and ensuring their needs are met.
* Apply specialized tools and documented procedures to diagnose and complete repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
* Perform preventative maintenance activities on engine and related components as per documented schedules and standards.
* Evaluate and escalate unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors.
* Complete documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
Key Requirements:
* An apprentice-trained engine technician (Cert III) or equivalent qualification is required.
* Intermediate level of workshop or field service experience is necessary.
* Knowledge of and/or experience with engine products, preferably heavy vehicle experience, is beneficial.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Health and Safety Fundamentals: champion proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to improve health and safety.
* Diagnostics Application: translate customer complaints to develop troubleshooting plans, diagnose issues using guided work flows, procedures, and specialized equipment, and validate repairs.
* Electronic Service Tool Application: identify and utilize electronic tool sets to maintain products or diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
* Engine Systems Interactions: interpret and analyze internal and external electrical and mechanical systems to efficiently diagnose and repair.
* Product Repair and Maintenance: repair and maintain mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, inspect and replace parts, and perform progressive damage checks.
* Service Documentation: capture specific data using required service tools and follow procedures to document information in the service management system.
* Technical Escalation: obtain product technical issue information, utilize available resources, and elevate issues to higher levels of expertise.
