Position Information
Glendale Technology High School is a rapidly growing comprehensive high school located in the City of Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle. With expected enrolments of over 900 students in 2026, including more than 18% Aboriginal and 5% from non‑English language backgrounds, the school embraces its mission "Educate for Life". It prides itself on strong partnerships within education and industry, including a proud membership of the Glendale Education Alliance (GEA). The school works closely with TAFE NSW and local businesses, offering vocational education and many school‑based apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities, preparing students for in‑demand skills. It has an inclusive Special Education Unit comprising 9 classes (ED, MC, and IO) and supports students across a range of extracurricular activities, encouraging them to chase their dreams.
Selection Criteria
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to build positive working relationships across diverse teams, including teaching staff, support staff, students, parents, and external partners.
* Demonstrated evidence of high‑quality organisational skills and the ability to support equitable resourcing to support teaching and learning at an administrative level in applications such as Edval, Edval Daily, SAP, NESA Schools Online, School Bytes, and Sentral.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to improving student engagement and post‑school pathways through leadership of Careers, Transition, and School‑Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) programs.
* Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills to actively engage staff, students, parents, and community to support learning for all students.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
