Position Summary
The Landscaper is responsible for carrying out a variety of landscape construction and softscape works to deliver high-quality outdoor environments.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor/ Lead Landscaper, the role requires technical skill, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team.
The Landscaper contributes to project success by executing construction tasks accurately and safely in accordance with plans, specifications, and Excape Group standards.
Key Relationships
Internal: Landscape Manager, Site Supervisors, Lead Landscaper, and Team Members.
Key Requirements
Experience in landscape construction.
Strong skills in hard and soft landscaping (paving, retaining walls, turfing, planting).
Ability to read and interpret landscape plans.
Proficiency using landscaping hand tools, power tools, and small machinery.
Sound knowledge of WHS and environmental practices.
Current White Card and valid driver's licence.
Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and reliability.
Ability to work in a team and follow supervisor instructions.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25kg and perform physically demanding tasks.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, operate equipment, and bend for extended periods.
Commitment to safe manual handling and maintaining personal fitness.
Job Responsibility
Landscape Construction & Site Works
Prepare and shape outdoor areas according to plans and specifications.
Construct hardscape elements including paving, retaining walls, edging, and drainage.
Install synthetic and natural turf with correct base preparation.
Carry out planting, mulching, soil preparation, and other softscape tasks.
Operate landscaping machinery (mini-excavators, skid steers, compactors) safely and efficiently.
Interpret and follow site plans, drawings, and specifications accurately.
Maintain tools, machinery, and equipment in safe, clean working order.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all work meets company quality standards and Australian regulations.
Follow plans and specifications to deliver accurate, high-quality outcomes.
Report defects, variations, or quality issues promptly.
Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency or quality.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Follow all WHS procedures, safety policies, and SWMS.
Participate in daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
Identify and report hazards, incidents, or near misses within the same shift.
Maintain a tidy, hazard-free worksite and use PPE correctly.
Apply environmental sustainability practices and minimise material waste.
Promote and model a positive safety culture.
Communication & Teamwork
Work collaboratively with the Lead Landscaper, Site Supervisor, and team members.
Provide guidance and support to apprentices and labourers.
Communicate progress, challenges, and resource needs clearly.
Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and teamwork at all times.
