OverviewLocation: Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney (travel required).
The Training Operations Manager leads the national operational training function across the OTR Group, including SMGB.
In this role, you will oversee the 8 Operations Trainers to ensure standardised, high-quality training is delivered across our 13,000 team members to support safety, compliance, capability, and commercial performance.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and continually improve the national operational training strategy.
Work closely with Operations, Safety, People & Culture, and Commercial teams to ensure training programs are modern, compliant, and aligned with business priorities.Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to a team of Operations Trainers.Develop and execute a national training strategy aligned to operational and organisational goals.Oversee training programs including fuel safety, retail operations, food safety, new store openings, store conversions, and master-level capability programs.Ensure compliance with WHS, fuel handling, and regulatory requirements, supported by audit-ready documentation.Deliver quality assurance through national standards, observation frameworks, feedback loops, and data-driven evaluation.Engage with Operations leaders and Support Centre teams, with senior-level reporting.Manage the national training budget, resources, LMS administration, and external training providers.What We OfferA rewarding career opportunity at the forefront of developing an Operations Training team that supports team members and guests.Access to exclusive staff benefits via the OTR App.Access to our free and confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
About You5–8+ years' experience leading operational training in retail, fuel, QSR, grocery, or convenience.Strong understanding of fuel compliance, WHS, hazardous substances, and operational safety.Proven track record leading multi-site or multi-state training teams.Expertise in instructional design, adult learning, and modern training modalities.Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills.Experience with LMS platforms and using training data to inform decisions.Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable), or blended learning methodologies.Must be available to travel within and outside of your home state.We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and encourage and support diversity in our traditional and non-traditional roles.Please note: This role is being sourced by our internal Talent Acquisition team; therefore, we will not be accepting applications via external recruitment agencies.
