Support Defence Members and Their Families

* Provide telephone counselling and referral assistance, utilizing crisis intervention and risk assessment skills.
* Conduct assessments via telephone and Skype.
* Prepare detailed written reports.
* Participate in projects related to Defence members.
* Refer callers to appropriate services.
* Work effectively within a team of professionals, including debriefing and knowledge sharing.

This role is an ongoing casual contract with a rotating roster from Monday to Sunday. You will be based onsite in Canberra and work closely with Defence members and their families to address a broad range of issues.


The Role:

* You will provide phone-based support to Defence members, addressing complex cases and providing urgent assistance.
* With over a decade of partnership with the Defence Member Family Services branch of the ADF, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Defence members and their families.
* Your expertise will help to ensure that Defence members receive the support they need, when they need it most.


You:

* Must hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Human Services/Social Sciences, Allied Health, or be a qualified Nurse with experience or further qualifications in Mental Health.
* Demonstrate assessment and communication skills (face-to-face and via telephone).
* Proven crisis intervention and risk assessment abilities.
* Excellent communication skills and experience in detailed report writing.
* Must be an Australian Citizen.
* Located in the ACT or willing to relocate.
* Willing to work a full-time rotating roster, including day, afternoon, and weekend shifts.
