SURVEY AND GEOTECHNICAL SENIOR GEOLOGIST Key Responsibilities
Conducts inspection, research/data gathering, etc. during the site/route selection process of Substation sites and transmission line routes and implements all the service contracts and in‐house activities for geological & geotechnical investigation works for the Substation (SS), Converter Station (CS), Switching Station (SWS), Cable Terminal Station (CTS), Transition Tower Station (TTS) and Overhead (OH), Underground Cable (UC) and Submarine Cable (SC) transmission line projects.
Technical Services I. Site/Route selection process/activities for transmission facilities/projects, namely: Substation, HVDC Converter Station, Switching Station, Cable Terminal Station, Transition Tower Station, Overhead Transmission Line route, Underground Cable route, and Submarine Cable route
* Assists in the conduct of Desktop study, creation of site/route composite team among TPD, ECMD, ECD, EPPD, ROWMD & O&M members and leads composite team during field inspection, research, etc.
* Secures technical data such as regional geology, geomorphology, river systems, tectonics and seismicity and route map of nearby geologic structures and geomorphic features.
* Provides assistance in the preparation/checking/reviews and in facilitating approval of the site/route selection report of at least 3 best alternative Substation sites/Transmission line routes that are technically and economically viable with due consideration of environmental/cultural/social factors.
* Provides assistance during coordination with CPO, ROWMD, EPPD and CCPAD on Site Workability Assessment (Level 1 & 2) of final Substation Site.
II. Implementation of Geological & Geotechnical Investigation Works
* Conducts the inspection and monitoring of service contract implementation for geological and geotechnical investigation works for transmission projects to ensure quality and on‐time delivery of technical data and cost‐effective services.
* Provides assistance in the review/checking of technical report/data of the geological and geotechnical works to ensure compliance with the contract and specifications.
* Provides assistance in the preparation of Evaluation/Validation Report of submitted Geological and Geotechnical Reports and Technical Evaluation Report/Confirmation SPT Report from service provider to ensure completeness and quality of geotechnical data integral in the design of foundation, slope protection, and hazards mitigation measures of transmission projects.
* Provides assistance in the coordination with heads of different divisions, departments and functional groups concerned regarding the details of technical services essential for efficient planning, design and construction/rehabilitation/expansion of transmission projects.
* Conducts the in‐house geological and geotechnical investigation works.
* Provides assistance in the preparation/checking/review of factual geotechnical/geological report/data.
* Participates in the site joint ocular inspection/validation of project site during the bidding and project implementation.
Technical Administrative Services
* Prepares and submits inspection and accomplishment report of all assigned geo‐investigation activities on a regular basis for monitoring purposes.
* Provides necessary information for the preparation of Terms of Reference, Cost Estimate and Purchase Requisition of Geological Contracts and Equipment.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Geology or Mining Engineering
* Licensed Geologist or Mining Engineer
* At least 2 years' experience in engineering geological and geotechnical investigation of transmission line and substation projects
* Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office
* Proficient in oral / written English and Filipino
* Able to use Personal Computer, Brunton Compass, Handheld GPS, Sample Pick, Resistivity Meter, Mobile phone
