The Burnie Adult Community Mental Health Service (BACMHS NW) is a case management service that provides expert mental health care including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.
The Role
The Community Mental Health Nurse:
- Provides safe, quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals and community sector organisations within the defined community practice area.
- Delivers high quality mental health services as part of a multidisciplinary team, utilising evidence-based practices and recovery principles for a designated client group in the community setting.
You will need
- Current knowledge of and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area in line with legal and ethical requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (ANMB) National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in mental health nursing including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.
- Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate with other sectors of mental health services and primary health care providers.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, part time, day worker position, 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for up to nine (9) months.
Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary and benefits
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Access to Grade 4 salary range $99,455-$105,995 is subject to progression to Grade 4.
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type may be available.
Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary packaging including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.

Other information
Successful applicants will be required to meet essential criteria and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and hold a current Driver’s Licence.
