The Role
Reporting to the RL (Retirement Living) Tax Manager, this position will involve supporting the accurate and efficient delivery of direct tax compliance and reporting for the business. In addition, this role involves supporting the provision of ongoing tax advice and training to the broader RL business, including Development, Village Operations and Village Management.- Timely and accurate delivery and review of Income tax and GST returns for the RL business, including complex tax adjustments applicable to retirement village operators.- Tax effect accounting outputs for a small number of corporates in the group structure;- Support the annual trust distribution process, including income tax forecasting prior to year-end;- Assist with the provision and evaluation of tax signoff of Investment Committee Papers;-
- Participation in the annual FBT compliance process in collaboration within the finance and payroll teams-
- Support the effective operation and upgrade of BAS preparation software and GST analytics systems, ensuring these are configured to deliver accurate GST reporting- Assistance with the administration of land tax and associated exemptions across all States and Territories RL operates in.
About you:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business or Commerce and 2+ years Australian tax experience, with a post qualification in Accounting/Tax, or be CA / CPA qualified.- Have broad direct tax knowledge to the role, gained in a prior in-house Tax role or professional firm- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate a willingness to support others.- Previous experience across Retirement Living taxation and FBT would be highly regarded (but not essential).- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence across all levels of the organisation- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
