Join Qantas in our brand‑new Product Innovation Centre located in Adelaide to help ensure consumer needs are met by embedding robust testing strategies and automation practices that uphold software reliability, performance and security. As a Senior Quality Engineer you will play a key role in testing Qantas applications while also helping to shape and expand our test automation infrastructure. You'll contribute to the ongoing development of automation scripts and suites and work on enhancing our continuous integration (CI) systems. With the freedom to identify and implement the best solutions you'll also explore non‑functional testing areas such as accessibility, performance and security. You will continuously improve our testing tools and refine our overall test approach. As part of our product operating model collaboration is essential – you'll work closely with the team to design automated test cases and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
* Develop and maintain test automation scripts and test suites for mobile and mobile back‑end APIs.
* Enhance continuous integration and release pipelines to support automated testing.
* Plan, execute and analyze non‑functional tests covering accessibility, performance, security and device fragmentation.
* Improve testing tools and overall test strategy, ensuring coverage and efficiency.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design automated test cases and resolve issues.
* Lead decisions for releases and maintain go/no‑go criteria.
Qualifications
* 6 years in enterprise QA roles with direct relevant experience in automation testing for mobile and mobile back‑end APIs.
* A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* Proven leadership in improving quality engineering processes and agile team collaboration.
* Experience in BDD, CI, Git and cloud platforms such as AWS.
* Skilled in test strategy, automation and functional testing (unit, integration, E2E, UAT).
* Familiarity with accessibility standards for mobile apps and testing thereof.
* Familiarity with mobile security best practices including vulnerability scanning.
* Strategies to recognise and deal with device and operating system fragmentation and ensure adequate test coverage.
* Experience leading small QA teams and mentoring testers or QA analysts.
* Proficient in mobile app automation, cross‑browser testing and container technologies.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills using tools such as Miro, Jira and Confluence.
* Confidence in leading go/no‑go decisions for releases.
* Experience writing native mobile automation (XCUI and / or Espresso).
* Mobile network debugging using tools such as Proxyman or Charles.
* Experience with scripting languages.
* Awareness of mobile OS differences, UI guidelines and platform‑specific behaviour.
* Strong understanding of challenges of mobile testing (backwards compatibility, versioning, offline behaviour, caching, battery usage, upgrade flow, migrations).
* Experience with testing on physical devices and simulators / emulators.
* Accessibility testing.
