Fixed Term Part Time – 12 - 76 hours per fortnight
Available from 3rd March 2025 to 30th June 2025
We are looking for a Health Care Worker Grade 1 to join our supportive Community Aged Care Services team at Portland District Health.
As a Healthcare Worker - Domestic Assistance, you will perform typical activities that include: general household duties including cleaning, laundry, ironing, and meal preparation; shopping without client; responsibility for compliance with safety guidelines in relation to cleaning products; required to report all unsafe conditions or equipment/appliances in clients’ homes; carrying out tasks in a friendly and cooperative manner, demonstrating a caring attitude towards clients; encouraging consumers to maintain and enhance their abilities and strengths; and to encourage consumers to actively participate where possible to maintain their independence.
About You

* Capable of performing work within the scope of an unqualified Health Care Worker under supervision
* Previous experience as a Health Care Worker Grade 1, desirable
* Certificate III in Aged Care, from an Australian registered training organisation or recognised equivalent qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
* Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively and work effectively as part of multidisciplinary health care team.
* Knowledge, skills, and experience in the delivery of duties to support consumer within the community.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, verbal and ICT skills.
* Demonstrated understanding of the needs, issues, and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to focus on delivering friendly, courteous, and respectful service to patients and residents.

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:
* Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology

PDH delivers services from a single campus, employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290, and has an active volunteer workforce. The People and Culture Unit sits within the Corporate Services Directorate, with other Units including Finance, Building Services, Food Services, Environmental Services, Executive Support, Administration and Health Information.
