About the Role
This opportunity is a permanent full-time Building Surveyor - Fire Safety to join the Regulatory Services Unit Team. The individual will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the fire safety compliance and upgrades program of existing buildings and regulated premises.
Council is focused on strengthening its capacity for strategic, proactive, integrated and responsive management of its local area. To help respond to the continuing rapid growth and change, we are seeking professionals to work and maintain the essential services program.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be primarily responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Conducting fire safety audits of existing buildings.
- Issuing Fire Safety Orders.
- Providing expert advice on fire safety matters to members of the public and/or other council staff.
About You
The successful candidate is a confident communicator with strong technical expertise in fire safety and building compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate Diploma or Degree in Building Surveying (or equivalent).
- Accreditation at minimum A3 level under the NSW BPB Accreditation Scheme.
- Current and unrestricted Class C Driver's Licence.
- White Card.
- Proven experience applying fire safety solutions and performance-based approaches to existing buildings.
- Demonstrated ability to issue and manage Fire Safety Orders through to resolution.
- Sound knowledge of the Building Code of Australia (BCA), EP&A; Act 1979, and Local Government Act 1993.
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute to team improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency in software systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Pathways, GIS, and ICON.

We are offering an attractive salary from $96,262.36 p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
Participation in Council's Motor Vehicle Scheme and opportunities in other legislative functions outside operational duties will be discussed with the successful applicant.
