The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT), as part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to join our Education Team.

About the role

The Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer (Education) to lead the development and delivery of high‐quality education projects that build understanding, appreciation and support for biodiversity conservation across NSW.

In this role, you will manage end‐to‐end education projects from planning and co‐design through to delivery and evaluation, ensuring programs are evidence‐based, fit‐for‐purpose and responsive to diverse audiences, including landholders and community stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners and providers, and contribute to the sharing of biodiversity conservation knowledge, including local and Indigenous ecological knowledge.

This is an opportunity for a skilled project manager with a strong background in environmental or ecological education to make a meaningful impact at a state‐wide level, balancing multiple priorities while delivering high‐quality outcomes on time and within scope.

About You

We're looking for an experienced and motivated professional with a passion for environmental education and biodiversity conservation, and the ability to turn strategy into high‐quality, practical programs with real impact.

You will bring strong project management capability and experience delivering education or engagement initiatives, ideally within environmental, conservation or public sector contexts. You're comfortable managing multiple projects at once, working autonomously, and partnering with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.

You're a confident communicator who can translate complex concepts into clear, engaging educational material for diverse audiences, including landholders, community groups and government partners. You value collaboration, are evidence‐driven in your approach, and use evaluation and feedback to continually improve programs and materials.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Demonstrated experience designing, coordinating and delivering education or engagement programs or projects.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage scope, timeframes, quality and stakeholder expectations.
* Knowledge of biodiversity conservation and/or environmental education, including relevant policy or statutory contexts.
* Experience working with external partners, contractors or co‐delivery providers.
* Well‐developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
* A collaborative and adaptive working style, with the confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, conservation, natural resource management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
* Experience working with Indigenous stakeholders and incorporating local or traditional ecological knowledge into programs will be highly regarded.
* Valid Working With Children Check.
* Valid Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel across NSW as required.

What we can offer you

* A great, friendly culture that cares about each other and the environment we work to protect.
* Accrued days off in addition to Annual Leave.
* Corporate wellbeing programs, including the Fitness Passport.
* A range of learning and development opportunities.
* Hybrid, flexible work arrangements.

We are committed to equal employment opportunity and welcome applications from all background, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ community members and people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
