What you'll be doing
The Suicide Prevention Outreach Team (SPOT) is part of the Towards Zero Suicides Initiative that aims to reduce deaths by suicide and suicide attempts. The clinician will work alongside a peer worker to provide assertive outreach and alternative to emergency department (AED)/ safe haven services using a recovery oriented and trauma informed care model.
Selection Criteria
* Tertiary qualifications and current registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, OR Tertiary qualifications and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
* Demonstrated experience in the comprehensive assessment and management of people with complex mental health needs, including assessment and advanced skills in clinical risk mitigation.
* Demonstrated experience in working across inpatient and community sites, and experience in ensuring integrated care and effective partnerships with emergency services (police/ambulance), GPs, and Community Managed Organisations.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively alongside Peer Workers with lived experience of suicide and have an understanding of the value of peer work, as well as being able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and the willingness to engage in suicide prevention co-design/ co-production and education and training.
* Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders; and a demonstrated high proficiency in computer literacy and virtual health/telehealth support options.
* Demonstrated understanding of the Mental Health Act (2007), and the Towards Zero Suicides initiative with recent post registration experience in the management of suicidal persons.
* Evidence of a current unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
