MARS is partnering with a growing financial services group within the Australian market. Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the Finance function and play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's strategic and commercial direction.
As CFO, you will oversee all financial, accounting, treasury, capital, payroll, insurance and risk functions, while acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board and senior leadership team. You will ensure the organisation remains fully compliant with APRA and regulatory requirements, deliver accurate and timely reporting, and drive best practice across all areas of financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategy & Advice - Provide financial insights to support the CEO, Board and overall strategic direction.
* Capital & Liquidity - Ensure compliance with APRA standards for capital, liquidity and funding.
* Regulatory Compliance - Oversee financial reporting, disclosures and all regulatory submissions.
* Financial Management - Lead accounting, tax, payroll, budgeting, forecasting and expense control.
* Risk & Recovery - Manage financial and market risks, conduct stress testing and maintain recovery plans.
* Insurance & Suppliers - Oversee the insurance program and manage key supplier and auditor relationships.
* Team Leadership - Mentor and guide the finance team, ensuring clear KPIs and strong performance.
* Business Continuity & Security - Contribute to continuity planning and ensure financial data security.
Key Challenges & Focus Areas:
* Navigating a complex and changing regulatory environment.
* Meeting heightened scrutiny and expectations from regulators.
* Driving financial best practice while modernising systems and processes.
The Requirements:
* Strong knowledge of accounting standards, APRA regulations, tax, treasury, and financial strategy.
* 10+ years' experience in senior financial roles, ideally in banking or financial services.
* Experience working with Boards, regulators, and senior executives.
* Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Degree in Accounting (CPA or CA essential).
* Postgraduate studies in finance, law, risk, or commerce (desirable).
