About the opportunity:
We are seeking a Maintenance Officer for our Seniors Living Independent Living Units in Mercy Place Rice Village (Geelong). In this role, you will report to the Retirement Village Manager and will be responsible for on-going repairs and preventative maintenance of building, plant, equipment and furniture. You will also assist with identifying and actioning health and safety issues to provide a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the safety and upkeep of the ILUs by undertaking a variety of maintenance tasks in a timely and highly competent manner.

* Responsible for grounds maintenance, on-going repairs and preventative maintenance of building, plant, equipment and furniture.
* Liaising with contractors
* Identifying and reporting areas for improvement
* Assist with identifying and actioning health and safety issues to provide a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

* Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
* A compassionate, flexible and positive approach.
* The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
* Previous maintenance experience - Trade background/qualifications preferred but not essential.
* Previous experience in Aged Care or hotel environment would be advantageous
* Ability to work independently and as part of the local team
* Proficient computer skills, prior experience working with a computer-based maintenance system will be advantageous
* Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety standards and regulatory maintenance frameworks relating to residential aged care & Seniors Independent Living Units
* Experience in managing contractors, WHS/OH&S compliance, Site inductions, understanding of HVAC systems, Essential services, Building 9C regulations, etc.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

* A current Police Record Check
* Trade based qualification or more than 3 years' experience in a commercial maintenance position.
* Current driver's licence.
