About our team Critical Infrastructure and Protective Security | Critical Infrastructure Risk Regulation | Regulatory Compliance | QLD Regulatory Compliance Within the Department of Home Affairs, the Critical Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC) drives an all-hazards critical infrastructure regime in partnership with governments, industry and the broader community. CISC actively assists Australian critical infrastructure owners and operators to understand the risk environment and meet their regulatory requirements - for the shared benefit of all Australians. The Regulatory Compliance Branch is responsible for ensuring airports, airlines, air cargo operators, ports and offshore oil and gas facilities in their regions are compliant with the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 (ATSA) and the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA) and their associated regulations. Transport Security Inspectors (TSIs) perform a broad range of compliance activities. The role requires regular travel to regional locations, some interstate travel, and work hours reflect the variability of industry operations so will include work on weekends and outside of normal business hours. We're seeking to fill 3 positions, 2 in Queensland and 1 in Victoria. Our ideal candidate Has excellent attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to encourage voluntary compliance and achieve robust security outcomes Is flexible and able to work well with others to achieve common goals. They will respond positively to change, be solutions focused, and be keen to develop themselves as subject matter experts in the field Has a strong work ethic and the drive to see the team constantly improve Has the ability to understand, interpret and apply legislation and regulations and be able to explain the application of the law in a straightforward manner Will apply work knowledge, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations and make rational judgements and decisions from the available information, including when to refer them to senior managers. The key duties of the position include Conduct a range of compliance activities, including audits, inspections and systems testing (including on-site validation activities) Identify and investigate non-compliance with legislation and regulations, and collect and record evidence that may be used in subsequent compliance, enforcement or judicial processes Prepare correspondence and write accurate, high-quality reports on non-compliance findings Enter and quality assure all relevant compliance and enforcement information into the Regulatory Management System Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work area and departmental goals, including representing the Department in industry engagements Supervise less experienced and volunteer TSIs when they assist with compliance activities and support their development to achieve quality and timely outputs appropriate to their compliance activities. Additional information Obtain and maintain an Australian Driver's Licence with the ability to drive unsupervised Obtain and maintain an Airside Driving Licence Obtain and maintain a Firearms licence/permit Obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) and an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) Obtain and maintain a Certificate IV in Government Investigations (Regulatory Compliance) (or similar approved qualification) and a First Aid certificate including Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
