Modelling Expert Wanted
Our research program is focused on developing new materials for compact tokamak reactors and predicting their degradation over time. We are seeking an expert to join the team and contribute to the modelling part of this initiative.
We need someone with a PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience, and skills in programming or scripting sufficient to develop or modify codes used for data analysis and materials modelling.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in performing simulations at the atomic-scale, such as density functional theory (e.g. VASP, Ab-init, Quantum espresso).
About the Role:
* Develop multi-scale models, spanning from the atomistic to the meso-scale, and perform simulations that will feed into the model.
* Predict how selected materials respond to radiation damage and transmutation in the extreme conditions of a fusion reactor.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Developing and modifying existing codes to suit our needs.
2. Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement multi-scale models.
3. Performing simulations and analysing results to inform our understanding of material behaviour.
