About the Business Unit:
The Security and Intelligence Division is responsible for the acquittal of several key strategic functions within Corrections Victoria (CV) including Security Risk Management, Electronic Monitoring, Correctional Emergency Response, and Emergency Management including exercising plans and contingencies, and Intelligence.
The Security Standards Unit (SSU) is responsible for several of these strategic functions focused on Security Risk Management, Physical Security, Annual Procedural Security Reviews, Schematic Plans, and State-wide Locksmith Services and maintaining a range of policy documents. The SSU is responsible for monitoring the minimum-security requirements for all prisons and secure locations on an annual basis, as well as ensuring that the standards are reviewed regularly. The unit also provides assistance, advice and support to CV relating to Security, Security Risk Management, Fire Response and Emerging Technology.
About the Role:
The Locksmith Services team is responsible for the planning, maintenance, and installation of all locks, keys, and other associated hardware. The Locksmith Services team is also responsible for the management and administration of the CV and Youth Justice restricted key and lock system. They are also periodically called upon for specialist subject matter expert advice and technical services, and work closely with other business units on prison infill expansion projects. The Locksmith Services team maintains the ability to respond to all custodial facilities on a 24 hour a day standby roster.
The Senior Prison Officer (Locksmith) is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all locking devices and the security and safe storage of all keys, and other security related equipment, across all prisons, transition centres, and PS facilities.
The role is primarily based at a CV custodial facility, the position will also service Department of Justice and Community Safety facilities as required. Some state-wide travel and overnight stays may be required, and the role may be required to work in Metropolitan Melbourne. There may also be some opportunity to work from home in accordance with Victorian Public Service guidelines.
About You:
To be successful in this position you will be able to demonstrate:
o Knowledge of the current CV prison locking systems.
o Knowledge of wider Locksmith industry practices, procedures, and skills.
o Project management experience would be highly regarded.
Qualifications:
o Completion of the Victorian Prison Officer Pre-Service Training, Youth Justice operations training or training in an equivalent jurisdiction, or the ability to undertake and complete the Victorian Prison Officer Pre-Service and/or Youth Justice Training.
o A current Locksmith qualification would be highly desirable.
o A current Victorian Driver's licence is required.
o A current Working with Children's Check, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
