Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating, conducting and promoting the sport of greyhound racing and greyhound welfare across the state. Generating more than $840 million in economic activity, returning over $65 million in prize money, and directly involving more than 17,000 people, the industry has significant community and economic impact. Guided by its vision for Victorian greyhound racing to be vibrant, inclusive and underpinned by world-leading animal welfare and integrity, GRV is navigating an important period of change, reform and chance.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Counsel is accountable for the provision of high-level, practical legal advice and governance support for GRV's Board, Board Committees and Executive. This role will oversee the legal and governance portfolio, providing strategic and commercially focused advice, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, risk management, contracts and disputes. It also has responsibility for freedom of information, privacy, protected disclosures and the review, consultation and drafting of new rules of racing.

To be successful, you will be an experienced and commercially astute legal leader admitted as an Australian Lawyer with a current practising certificate. You will bring proven capability in providing legal counsel directly to senior executives and boards, with strong knowledge across commercial, administrative and governance law. Your ability to manage sensitive and complex legal issues, influence and engage with senior stakeholders, and deliver practical solutions will be key. Experience in company secretariat responsibilities and board governance is essential, while exposure to government, statutory authority or highly regulated industries will be highly regarded.

This is a unique opportunity to join GRV as a trusted adviser at a time of significant transformation. The role offers challenge, variety and impact, embedding a high-performing culture of legal and compliance excellence. Flexible working arrangements and a supportive, collaborative team environment will ensure you are well-positioned to succeed and grow.
