Mine Foreperson Job Description
Mine forepersons are pivotal leaders in the underground mining industry, responsible for overseeing a team of personnel and coordinating activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and Coordination:
* Plan and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in underground mining activities, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and within budget.
* Review data such as maps, survey reports, and geological records, consulting with engineering, maintenance, and supervisory personnel to plan and direct mine development.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
* Review and consolidate records such as safety reports and production records, providing insights into operational performance.
* Maintain accurate records relevant to the role in accordance with the Mines Act, adhering to regulatory requirements.
Leadership and Communication:
* Supervise Underground Shift Supervisors, providing direction and assistance with planning mining activities in accordance with Mines Act & relevant Safety and Environmental regulations.
* Liaise with appropriate client contacts, ensuring expectations are realistic and projected targets achieved safely and to specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Background and Experience:
* A minimum of 5 years exposure to the Underground Mining Industry, providing valuable experience in operational management.
* Current and valid Manual Australian Driver's Licence, essential for site operations.
* Production and Development background with operator experience, enabling effective coordination of activities.
Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to coordinate activities and schedule labour, ensuring seamless operation.
* Ability to attend to housekeeping, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
* Understanding of mining equipment application, enabling informed decision-making.
* Ability to optimise mine production, driving efficiency and productivity.
* Ability to implement and maintain mining training programs, promoting employee development.
* Understanding of drilling and blasting techniques, essential for effective mine management.
