State government client is looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer.

Victorian department that ensures equitable, streamlined, and cost-effective legal services for the community by rendering judgments on a diverse array of cases or by assisting individuals in resolving conflicts. They are looking for a UI/ UX Designer for a 6-month contract.
Your new role
As the UI/UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing user‐centred services and digital products that support this transformation. Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting discovery and service design work across residential tenancies, guardianship, planning, and environmental functions.
* Designing for a diverse user base including internal staff, tribunal members, renters, rental providers, businesses, and government stakeholders.
* Mapping current‐state user journeys and user flows.
* Conducting qualitative and quantitative user research, including moderated usability testing from planning to synthesis.
* Translating research insights into wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design artefacts.
* Designing multi‐channel experiences across web, mobile, and in‐person service delivery.
* Collaborating within an agile environment to validate concepts and iterate on designs.
* Contributing to the development of a new User Portal and Case Management System.
* Working within existing design systems and using tools such as Figma.
* Navigating the complexities of legacy systems and designing solutions despite ambiguity.
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated experience in UI/UX or Service Design roles within complex environments.
* Strong capability in user journey mapping, interaction design, and usability testing.
* High proficiency with Figma and design system application.
* Proven ability to work autonomously with high attention to detail.
* Experience managing and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
* Strength in synthesising research insights into actionable design recommendations.
* Comfortable working with legacy systems and evolving requirements.
