We're looking for a results-focused, people-minded leader to join our Customer Services team in Mareeba as a Senior Business Support Officer. As a key part of the Mareeba Business Centre, you'll supervise a team of three and play an important role in ensuring high quality support services are delivered to both internal and external clients across the Lands Division.
About the role:
As a team leader in our Customer Services stream, you'll supervise and guide business support officers, coordinate day-to-day operations, and ensure that services meet departmental and client expectations. You'll oversee the delivery of key administrative, financial, and customer service activities, including facility management, fleet coordination, and frontline enquiries. You'll also contribute to statewide business improvement by developing and implementing consistent local procedures. This is your chance to grow your leadership skills in a regional setting, while making a practical difference in the way Queensland's natural resources services are delivered.
Key duties include:
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting team members to deliver services efficiently
• Coordinating rosters, leave planning, timesheets, and other workforce logistics
• Performing Authorised Receipting Officer duties and maintaining compliance with policy
• Providing written and verbal advice to clients, stakeholders, and partner agencies
• Overseeing local asset registers, fleet management, and facility resources
• Delivering consistent training and guidance on systems and procedures
• Supporting local implementation of business improvement initiatives and projects
• Contributing to a healthy and inclusive team culture that supports continuous development
We're looking for someone who:
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Can lead, support, and motivate a small regional team
• Brings strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Has experience with government systems or business administration (preferred)
• Thrives on delivering customer service in a fast-paced and community-oriented environment
• Holds a current C class driver's licence (desirable), as some travel may be required
