Our Geological Data Services (GDS) division is focused on redefining the future of mineral exploration through innovative and emerging technologies delivered through industry-leading products and services. These include onsite real-time drilling data and geochemistry.
Boart Longyear's Geological Data Services Division is growing and looking to hire a Systems Engineer, the Systems Engineer will research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution for GDS. This position will report to the Global Digital Operations Director.
**Want to know a little more about the role? Day-to-day Responsibilities include**:
- Configure and deploy systems on prem and in the cloud as required by relevant architects.- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on technology assets (Servers, Networks)- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with end user desktops as a backup to the front-line service desk- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on production technology assets as required. (Mobile devices, tablets, laptops)- Support administrative requests including new users, Jira access and other software platform access as required.- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-based systems- Collaborate with other support staff and lead engineers / architects to resolve issues- Arrange for service / repair of technology assets as required- Order current technology devices for end users as required- Keep current on emerging technologies and trends**A few other things we're looking for**:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.- Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical staff and customers.- Superior understanding of computer and networking hardware and software systems.- Knowledge of organization's software systems.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.- Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering, Computer Software Engineering, Computer Engineering Technologies, or related field required.- Technology Certificate (MCSE, A+, ITIL, etc) or equivalent preferred.Our varied range of services and products requires bringing together diverse and complimentary people.
