The Role

The Registered Nurse (Aged Care) is responsible for delivering direct and comprehensive nursing care to residents and their families, demonstrating and

applying knowledge in all aspects of care.

Exceptional above-award rate, the minimum base rate of $50 per hour + loadings + super + a host of additional benefits, including salary packaging, true job flexibility, and more

Responsibilities

· Provide nursing care within limits specified by education and the National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse.

· Ability to practice without supervision and assume accountability and responsibility for own actions.

· Display an understanding of and commitment to the provision of care, comfort, and support in activities of daily living and meeting basic human.

· needs focusing on consumer directed care including wellness, supported decision making, resident/client independence and re-enablement.

· Understand the role and function of the Registered Nurse to ensure they work within the limits of their education and competence and to be responsible for their actions.

· Supervise, educate and support Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Workers and understand the role and function of this level of nursing.

· Support and advise the Enrolled Nurses, Personal Care Workers at all times and ensure their activities remain within the documented guidelines, as per approval by AHPRA.

· Ensure correct documentation of medical/nursing records.

· Maintain correct custody of controlled drugs and be vigilant in administration of all medications - as per organisational policies.

· Liaise with catering services for special dietary information and advice of admissions.

· Consult with Facility Manager and peers to solve problems as soon as possible.

· Keep the Facility Manager informed of problems/activities.

· Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to continuous quality improvement.

· Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to infection control and work within stated guidelines.

· Conduct comprehensive resident assessments and prioritise care as required

· Mentoring and coaching of all care staff.

· Liaise with visiting Medical Officers and implement medical instructions for residents/clients.

· Be aware of policies, procedures and protocols within the residential and community services and facilitate their safe implementation including incident reporting.

· Contribute information relevant to resident's/client's needs for development / review of individual.

· Demonstrate a commitment to continued education through attendance of in-service and external education programs.

· Correct use and knowledge of chemical dispensers, awareness of SDS (Safety Data Sheets).

Requirements

· Demonstrated understanding of the aged care sector and contemporary issues relating to the Aged Care Industry.

· Current First Aid Certificate.

· Current practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

· At least 4 years of relevant nursing experience.

· Demonstrated experience in a team leadership role including workload management, performance management and critical and reflective thinking skills in decision making and problem solving.

· Ability to communicate with a range of people including older people, staff, volunteers and visitors, particularly in relation to care of residents.

· Good written communication skills including experience in preparing routine documentation related to care notes, analytical and critical thinking skills.

· Demonstrated commitment to continual professional and personal development.

· Demonstrated understanding of quality assurance and continuous improvement.
