Simulation Education Director
Job Description:
The Simulation Education Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all simulation-based training at the HTH Simulation Centre. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based simulation education, fostering a culture of research and innovation, and strengthening collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement simulation-based curricula in collaboration with academic staff from the Schools of Health Sciences and Optometry and Vision Science.
* Lead a small team comprising clinical skills educators and a simulation technician, providing guidance on teaching and learning design, curriculum development, and program implementation.
* Collaborate with the Director of Medical Education at the Randwick Clinical Campus to align simulation activities with the broader educational objectives of the Faculty.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* PhD in a related discipline or significant experience in simulation-based education.
* Qualification in a relevant health discipline (e.g., nursing) and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* At least five years' experience in simulation-based education, curriculum development, and program implementation.
* Demonstrated expertise in teaching and learning design, using a range of pedagogical approaches, and development and delivery of courses and programs at undergraduate levels.
* High-level experience in developing and delivering simulated learning in healthcare settings.
* Demonstrated knowledge of simulated learning environments, including space and equipment requirements.
* Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and simulation delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
* Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others, with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
* Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
* Evidence of highly developed interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
* Understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
