Role Description
We are seeking a
full-time 3D Printing Technician / 3D Modeller
to join our team on-site in Byron Bay.
This is a hands-on role that combines
digital desig
n with
practical fabrication
. You'll be responsible for
managing
and
operating
our
3D printers
, creating and optimising
3D models
, and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure consistent, high-quality output. Beyond printing, you'll support and guide the workshop team, perform routine printer maintenance, and contribute across CNC machining, laser cutting, and finishing tasks as needed.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a
creative production environment
with tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain large-format resin and FDM 3D printers.
* Prepare, slice, and optimise models for print production.
* Post-process prints: cleaning, curing, sanding, and finishing.
* Troubleshoot printer and slicer issues to maintain production flow.
* Support wider workshop tasks (CNC machining, laser cutting, assembly).
* Collaborate with the team to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
Qualifications
* Strong 3D print production and troubleshooting skills.
* Experience with
3D modelling software
(Rhino 3D, Zbrush).
* Experience with
slicing software
(Chitubox, Elegoo, Raise Pro, Formlabs, Phrozen).
* Experience with Filament and Resin printers.
* Familiarity with
CNC machines and laser cutters
.
* Hands-on fabrication or workshop experience.
* Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Technical or vocational training in a related field is preferred.
* Experience in a fabrication, production, or film/event workshop environment is a plus.
* Animatronics is a plus.
* Scenic / paintwork experience a plus.
